My name is Janet Oakes. Several years ago, I started the journey that led to Lovin' Bowl. I love my family, I love to cook, and I love my dogs. For me, the care we take when cooking for our family and the quality of what we prepare for them show our love. It is the same with our pets. They are our family. I could not find a commercial food that agreed with one of my dogs and began cooking for him. The more I learned about commercial kibble, the more committed I became to educating myself about dog nutrition and to make the best food I could.
We all strive to be healthy and we want our dogs to be healthy too. We take them for walks, trips to the groomers, and visit the vet to make sure they are treated for any ailments. What if we could feed better food that could solve many of the health issues or, better yet, prevent the health problems from developing in the first place? The key is higher quality, fresh ingredients. There is truth in the saying 'You are what you eat'. Healthy and fresh is always better than over processed and filled with chemicals.

The commercial pet food companies make pet food for the ease of the buyer, not necessarily the health of the ultimate consumer, our pets. Kibble is made by the ton and designed to last for years, if not decades. The high temperature and high pressure used in the extrusion process that produces kibble decrease the nutritional value, some say by half. The quality of the ingredients can be very questionable. The 4 D's are legally allowed in pet food. Dead, Diseased, Decayed, and Dying. These are not the things I want my companion to be eating.
